Chaos in Baku: Azerbaijan GP 2025 Weekend Recap

🔧 Practice Session

The final practice was all about adjusting to low grip and windy conditions. Lando Norris topped the timesheets with a 1:41.223, edging Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. Charles Leclerc and Liam Lawson both had off-track moments, while Piastri struggled with oversteer but still looked quick heading into qualifying.

🎯 Qualifying

Qualifying turned into pure chaos with a record six red flags 🚩!. Alex Albon, Nico Hülkenberg, Pierre Gasly, and Charles Leclerc all found the walls, while Oscar Piastri’s late crash in Q3 ruined his chances. In the end, Verstappen grabbed pole, Carlos Sainz stunned with P2 for Williams, and Liam Lawson secured P3.

🏁 Race Day

The race started dramatically as Oscar Piastri crashed on lap 1, blowing the title fight wide open. Max Verstappen kept calm and converted pole into a dominant win. George Russell, battling illness, drove superbly to take second, while Carlos Sainz delivered Williams their first podium in four years with a brilliant P3.

George Russell – Heroic P2 despite being unwell.
